MADE in MD: Cardin Spotlights Route 1 Revitalization at Mobern Lighting

JESSUP, Md. – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.) Friday toured Mobern Lighting, a designer and manufacturer of energy efficient lighting solutions that has doubled its workforce and sales in the last three years. He then was joined by Howard County Executive Allan Kittleman and small business leaders for a roundtable discussion on local economic development.

 The visit to Mobern Lighting was the latest stop of Senator Cardin’s “Made in MD” jobs tour that highlights the diversity of Maryland products and the Marylanders who make them. Series of Manufacturing Networking Events To Be Held as a Part of MD MEP’s Make it in Maryland Program

Columbia, Md. – On Tuesday, May 12, 2015, Maryland Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MD MEP), the premier resource and problem solver for Maryland’s manufacturers, held the first ‘Cheer to Gears’ event at Mobern Lighting Company in Jessup, MD as a part of its Make it in Maryland Program. Mobern Lighting Company is a Maryland-based manufacturer and distributor of energy efficient lighting fixtures and solutions.


These exclusive events are held specifically for MD MEP’s Make it in Maryland members and rotate to different Make it in Maryland member facilities each month. ‘Cheers to Gears’ provides an informal setting for companies to network, make B2B connections and learn from their Maryland counterparts. The agenda includes a facility tour followed by networking, food and beverages. Following the plant tour and networking last night, guests were treated to food and spirits graciously supplied by Twin Valley Distillers, RavenBeer and Mission BBQ - all Maryland based establishments.
